How do I commission art?

My commissioning process is very simple, and I tend to go with the flow. I aim to be as friendly, helpful and human as possible. So all you need to do is get in touch and we can go from there. All commissions and orders are dealt with via email [email protected].

I am sure you will have plenty of questions. I have tried to answer some of the most common questions below.

Do you only draw dogs?

Absolutely not! I love drawing other animals, but I rarely get the opportunity in commissioned work. So please do come to me to have your cats, birds, hamsters, horses, and farm animals drawn, I would be very, very happy indeed. In my Pet Studies I am also more than happy to include figures if they are in the photos with your animals - But please be aware that I am not a people portrait artist, so the emphasis will be on the figure rather than the face, and therefore may not be an exact likeness of the person.

Do you use colour?

Colour is not really something that I offer at the moment in custom pieces, simply because my use of colour is very experimental and I don't feel I have enough experience .

How are the Digital Drawings printed?

I use a professional printing company who specialise in Fine Art Giclée Printing. The art work is printed using museum quality, Fine Art Trade Guild approved equipment, inks and paper. The papers selected and the inks used are archival quality, and tests have shown colours last up to 70 to 80 years, and in some cases a lot longer. Epson printers are used along with Epson Ultrachrome™ HDR inks.

What is the paper for digital prints like?

Custom Digital Drawings are printed on Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm*, It is very beautiful and thick, with a really lovely texture and quality.

*Different papers may be used for prints in my shop and limited edition print runs.

What will my prints look like?

Giclee Prints of my digital art can be purchased in two sizes - A5 and A4. The orientation of your custom Digital Drawing will depend upon the photograph you have provided and how it has been drawn to fill the space. If you want to specify portrait or landscape printing you should let me know before I start your sketch, I will usually ask for a preference during consultation for commissions. I always ask the printer to place the sketch centrally and fill as much of the space on the paper as possible, but a 1 inch white border is added to A4 prints to account for framing. This border will be 1/2 an inch for A5 prints. Mounting and framing options are also available.
